The school is being rebuilt from scratch on the playing fields behind the existing building. Ground preperation work has already begun with building work beginning in earnest in summer 2007 and with a completion anticipated by June of 2009.

Forty years ago the then Lothian Council built Armadale Academy and the building has served the community well since. In 2003/2004 the main northerly academic building was reglazed and the exterior refurbished as shown below.

The new school will be remarkably different from the existing building, not only in size but also in the internal and external arrangement of departments and facilities. The plans for the new school are constantly changing, however even a cursory glance at the new plans reveals a genuinely impressive establishment.
