School Garden

Stage one of our school garden is almost complete.

I am sure you will agree that we have a garden to be proud of.

This is what our garden looked like way back in September 2002.

Presentation by Whitburn Friendship Group

It was a beautiful sight to see the garden in full bloom on our return to school after the summer holidays.

All the plants and bushes are in full bloom and the first crop of Whitdale strawberries have been harvested.

During the summer months the bark which was laid by P7 children prior to the holidays has certainly done its job, keeping the production of weed and the maintenance of the garden to a minimum.

Over the holiday period the PTA members and parents have been checking all was well in the garden. I wish to thank them for their efforts.

The children have just taken part in a sponsored line-dancing event to raise funds for the continuing development of the garden. At present this total exceeds £2000. Thanks to who have taken part and those who sponsored them.

The week of the 22nd of September will see the school taking part in the Grounds for awareness week. Here the children will be using the Garden as an outdoor classroom.

There are plans to build a container Garden for the infant dept. We have received funding for this and it is hoped this project will be up and running soon.

Special Donation

In October we receveied a very kind donation from the Whitburn Friendship Group. To accompany the Budjela plant they donated we were presented with a plaque to accompany it.
