The Purpose of Learning Support

West Calder High School's Learning Support Department offers a service to teachers, pupils and parents.

Our aim is to identify areas of additional need, and put in place strategies and support that enable pupils to reach their full potential.

A Learning Support teacher's job is to promote appropriate learning and teaching skills and strategies. Underlying the work of the department is the knowledge that good self-esteem in pupils leads to a greater confidence and a higher degree of motivation.
