Extra Curricular Activities

A wide range of extra curricular activity enhances the education of any pupil but this is largely dependent on the unselfish goodwill adopted by staff and to an increasing and encouraging extent by some parents, in giving of their own time.

There is at present a respectable range of activity and there is encouragement for its development.

Rugby is played throughout the school, and the assistance of the Linlithgow Rugby Football Club is significant in this.

Hockey has established itself again throughout the school with as many as ten teams being fielded some Saturdays.

There are football teams in the junior school and in the summer term there is cricket. There are opportunities for fencing and in county competition for swimming and athletics. A ski club organises trips both at home and abroad.

For pupils with a musical interest there is a wind band, orchestra, woodwind and brass ensembles and choirs regularly meet and perform.

Moving further afield, out-with the school there are well established programmes of visits and fieldwork, particularly in the History, Geography and English departments. European ventures frequently feature within these programmes.

The school has an established exchange link with Guyancourt, near Paris. This link involves the regular exchange of pupils, broadening their own horizon and certainly benefiting their learning of a foreign language.
