As you will see from
the class items it is a very busy time for everyone but
classes/teachers are managing to complete their huge
workloads and still have some fun!
We have been very
lucky to have a visit from the fabulous “Pipers Trail”
who came into school and gave a demonstration of their
playing and also workshops with the children. Who knows
we may have budding pipers in our midst!
As always if any
parent feels they wish to discuss any issue with me
please contact me through the school office and an
appointment will be made as soon as possible.
Staff have mentioned
to me that children (particularly the boys) are bringing
‘trade/football’ cards to school; this is now causing a
problem and I would ask that you please ensure that if
this is an interest of your child’s the cards are left
at home. If the child insists on bringing them to
school the cards will be confiscated and will require to
be collected by parents. Also on a similar note –
electronic games such as ipods etc. are no longer
allowed to be brought to school for Golden Time.
Global Citizenship
– Fair-trade Coffee Morning
During our Fair Trade
Week we will be having a coffee morning when you will be
able to sample various fair trade goods including
coffees and teas. There will also be an opportunity to
view products the children have made. More details will
be issued nearer the time.
Modern Languages
week – news from Mrs Shepherd
Modern Languages week
was held the week beginning February 8th.
This year the theme was French and German. We started
the week with a continental breakfast, though it was
really a bit more as we got the opportunity to try lots
of different foods. We were able to choose from various
meats, cheeses, breads, pāte, breads, crackers and
more. It was all washed down with some fruit juice.
On Monday Mrs. Kohler
and Mrs. Shepherd visited all the classes. The children
learned a song to sing at assembly, played games and
took part in quizzes and other activities.
Tuesday was activity
day. Every class had 40 minutes in the hall where they
could choose to do whatever they wanted from a variety
of activities offered in French and German. The choices
included jigsaws, books and magazines, colouring sheets,
craft activities, board games, card games and fun on the
computer including Glow.
On Wednesday we
watched a film in French or German with English
subtitles to help us understand. This was helped along
with juice and popcorn.
We finished the week
with a whole school assembly which included a
staff/pupil quiz which the kids won – of course!
