Bathgate Academy serves the communities of Bathgate and Blackburn along with several other communities in the area. The school was established by John Newlands over 150 years ago to provide an education for the "Bathgate bairns". The original academy building in Marjoribanks Street was taken over by West Lothian College in the sixties when the school moved to its current location. The school has recently undergone a major multi-million pound refurbishment with the addition of a new games hall and astroturf. The students range in age from 12 to 18 and a wide variety of courses are available, including Standard Grades, Intermediates 1 & 2, Highers and Advanced Highers. In recent years the school has excelled with Enterprise Education having won a number of awards across Scotland.. The new facilities mean that sport clubs within the school are expanding. |
